Documentary film, as an art form, relies on elements such as cinematography, direction, editing, and especially music and sound design. For a long time, we have witnessed the neglect of sound design and the overwhelming use of stock music in many documentary films. To support and highlight exceptional work in sound design and music, we are proud to present a new award at BIFED.

Bruno Schneider, a Swiss musician and hornist, has been married to Idil Schneider-Bulut since 1985. They reside in Basel, Switzerland. Since 1989, Bozcaada has become a second home for both Bruno and his wife. When Bruno Schneider first encountered BIFED, he immediately recognized the festival’s significant impact on society and the region. Inspired by this, he conceived the idea of supporting the festival through a music award. This prize is named after his wife, Idil Schneider-Bulut, in honor of her role in introducing him to Turkish culture.
